For the 42,000 children struggling with hunger in Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, school can be pretty rough. While they may receive free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch during the week, what happens when they go home for the weekend?
Working with educators to identify chronically hungry children, the Backpack Program provides nutritious, kid-friendly food for students to take home on weekends and during school breaks; currently, on a bi-weekly basis. This year, we need to raise an additional $150,000 to continue our current backpack distribution and begin the expansion to a weekly basis.
Sponsor the Foodbank Backpack Program, and let them know you’ve got their backs.
