The 27th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is coming up, and we are asking everyone in our Southeastern Virginia community and the Eastern Shore to take part in the nationwide, one day event. It’s simple to participate–all you need to do is fill a plastic bag with non-perishable items and leave it at your mailbox the morning of May 11, 2019, for your letter carrier to pick up. The letter carriers will then deliver all food collected to the Foodbank!
Last year, 117,664 pounds of food was donated, which equates to 98,053 meals.
This food comes at a crucial time, as we near summer vacation, the need for food increases. Many students receive free and reduced price lunch during the school year and lose these meals when school lets out for summer. This is where you and the Foodbank steps in. We can help supplement for the missed meals through our partner agencies and summer feeding sites.
Expect your Food Lion Sponsored “Stamp Out Hunger” bag in the mail the week of 5/6!
If you aren’t able to donate food, but would still like to make a difference, please consider donating online. With just $10, we can provide up to $60 of grocery products!
