With schools closed, still limited grocery access and meal inspiration wearing thin, we could all use some creativity in the kitchen. The Foodbank is launching a Get Healthy Recipe Challenge to inspire individuals to post their favorite and most creative recipes that rely largely on staples most already have at home.
Submit your recipes and photos of the finished dishes to gethealthy@foodbankonline.org with the subject Get Healthy Recipe Challenge or tag @FoodbankSEVA with the hashtag #GetHealthyRecipes. Your recipe could be featured on the Foodbank’s website and social media pages!
Bonus points go to individuals who find ways to incorporate one or more of the MyPlate principles of filling half the plate with fruits and vegetables, a fourth of the plate with whole grains and a fourth of the plate with a healthy protein (chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, beans, tofu, nuts, etc.) and including a serving of low-fat or fat-free dairy.
We encourage you to get cooking, get creative and get healthy! We can’t wait to see and share what dishes you come up with.
