Tribute Giving
Honor someone special with a gift that gives back. Whether you’re donating in honor, in memory, or in celebration of someone, your tribute supports the Foodbank’s work to ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious food.
Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to recognize a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or remember someone who made an impact in your life, while also helping families across our community.
To make a tribute gift, select “Give” below. When entering your gift amount, check “Dedicate this donation” and follow the prompts to recognize your honoree.
If you choose, we can notify the individual or their family of your gift. After checkout, you can send a personalized card by email or postal mail. You will also receive a follow-up email with a link to complete your dedication if needed.

Types of gifts to consider
- Gifts qualifying for a charitable tax deduction: Taxpayers taking standard deduction may be able to reduce their taxable income by $1,000-$2,000 through direct charitable giving. Consult your tax professional for details.

Donating cryptocurrency directly to the Foodbank can be a tax-efficient way to give. By donating crypto instead of selling it, you may avoid capital gains taxes and may be eligible for a charitable deduction based on its current U.S. dollar value.
Cryptocurrency is considered an appreciated asset, similar to stocks or mutual funds. If you hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other digital assets that have increased in value, donating them allows more of your gift to support access to nutritious food across our region.

Shop and Support
Turn everyday purchases into support for our community. Several businesses partner with the Foodbank to donate a portion of sales from select products, promotions, or campaigns, helping expand access to nutritious food across our region. When you choose to shop with these businesses, you’re directly supporting neighbors who rely on consistent access to food. These partners support the Foodbank through ongoing and annual campaigns:
- BoxLunch Give-Back: Every $10 spent triggers a $0.10 donation to the Foodbank. Customers can also round up or add a donation at checkout.
- Commonwealth Crackers 1.23%: 1.23% of all sales in our service area are donated to the Foodbank. Available locally at Pendulum Fine Meats and Vino Culture in Norfolk.
- Hubbard Peanut Company Single Origin Peanuts: $1 from each can sold is donated to the Foodbank. These peanuts are grown in partnership with Elisha Barns at Izzie’s Field through our Farm to Foodbank program.
- RNR Tires Drive Away Hunger: $1 from every tire sold supports the Foodbank.
- The Cheesecake Factory Slice Campaign: $0.25 from every slice of select Cheesecake sold is donated to the Foodbank.

Our #Gethealthy virtual food drive platform lets you donate food online by selecting items from a digital grocery cart. After the drive is complete, the food will be delivered for you to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. To donate food online, visit our More Ways to Give page, choose your virtual grocery items, and complete checkout securely.
You can donate money for food and donate food online through our secure website without leaving your home. Options include one-time gifts, monthly recurring donations, virtual food drives, stock and IRA contributions, planned giving, and workplace giving. The best way to donate non-perishable food is to drop items off at our Norfolk headquarters , or at any fill It Forward partner location. Most-needed items include canned proteins, peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal, and shelf-stable milk. Ensure all items are unexpired and in original packaging. You can also organize a workplace or community food drive to multiply your impact.
Beyond donating food online or donating money for food, you can advocate by contacting elected officials about SNAP funding, the Farm Bill, and child nutrition programs. Combining advocacy with financial support multiplies your impact on policies affecting food-insecure neighbors regionally and nationally.
