Why should we help?
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a public health and economic crisis, the effects of which are widespread. The repercussions include added hardship for populations already facing challenges making ends meet, as well as a significant increase in the number of people experiencing food insecurity. In 2021, Feeding America projects a 17% rise in food insecurity for individuals in our service area and an 18% increase for children, compared to 2019.
Since the crisis began, food banks have faced a “perfect storm” that includes surges in demand, declines in food donations due to supply chain challenges, fewer available volunteers, and other disruptions to the charitable food assistance system’s operating model. The best time to become a Hunger Hero is now. Will you join us?
