Community At It’s Core
The first official Foodbank T-shirt was designed by Graceanne Gershner, the Foodbank’s Donor Relations Coordinator. Her design draws inspiration from American traditional tattoo styles, which Graceanne deeply admires. As a passionate tattoo enthusiast, her love for tattoos is evident to anyone who has spoken with her. Additionally, given the significant navy presence in Hampton Roads, this tattoo style is prominent throughout our community, creating a meaningful connection. This design symbolizes the Foodbank’s profound reach, as we all come together and anchor ourselves at the core of the community, offering our vital services to those in need.
This collectible T-shirt will be updated every year.
What can change a life? A peanut can!
In a world of rapid change, some traditions endure, thanks to the dedication of individuals like Elisha Barnes. As a fourth-generation farmer, Elisha honors the lost art of shocking peanuts, preserving a tradition that defines his heritage. Hubbard Peanut Company is proud to partner with Elisha on this highly limited “single origin” peanut crop.
Elisha’s connection to Izzie’s Field – the first Farm to Foodbank Project – extends beyond farming. He tends to the Foodbank’s 20-acre farm, providing fresh produce to neighbors struggling with hunger. By dedicating a portion of the land to his chosen crops, it’s here that these peanuts are grown.
With each purchase of these peanuts, you not only savor a taste of tradition but also support the fight against food insecurity. Proceeds from every can provide two meals to someone in need.
Food is more than sustenance; it’s connection – to our roots, to our community, and to each other.
