Foodbank Names New Chief Development Officer
Norfolk, VA – January 30, 2023 – The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has named Melissa Smith its new Chief Development Officer. Formerly the Foodbank’s Donor Engagement Officer and Interim Director of Development, Smith brings extensive experience in major gifts, annual giving, and the cultivation and stewardship of donors.
“Melissa brings a strong background in development and non-profit management to our work with more than 15 years of experience in both sectors,” says Foodbank President & CEO Christopher Tan. “Most importantly, in her time at the Foodbank, she has proven that she believes in our mission to end hunger in our community, works hard to fulfill that mission every day, and has the well-being of our neighbors at the forefront of all of her development work.”
Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from St. Leo University and a Master of Public Administration from Villanova University.
