Women Ending Hunger is a society committed to making a significant, lasting difference in the lives of citizens through the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore’s Programs and Initiatives. Through the power of philanthropy, profound impact can be made for those struggling with hunger in our region, creating a healthier and better place to live.
Membership opportunities are open to any woman who wants to take action and make a difference in the effort to eliminate hunger in our community. Taking action is defined by volunteering a minimum of 50 hours a year and/or making a monetary donation between $250 – $1,000 a year. Members who give annually at the following levels will become members of that Society:
- Red Apple Society: $1,000 or more
- Apple Blossom Society: $500 – $999
- Orchard Society: $250 – $499
- WEH Volunteers: 50 hours of volunteer time at the Foodbank
Are you ready for the Women Ending Hunger Challenge?
March 1 – 31, 2018
The WEH Challenge encourages members and prospective members to participate in a friendly competition to volunteer the most time and raise the most food and funds during the month of March.
Women who accept the Challenge agree to do the following:
- Volunteer at the Foodbank
- Collect Food Donations
- Make an Individual Monetary Donation
- Encourage Others to Join the Challenge
Registration is easy and free and allows you to create a personalized fundraising page, which is a simple way to invite friends and family to support your Challenge efforts and to track donations. Not interested in fundraising online? Don’t worry. You aren’t required to use your page.
Scheduling your volunteer shift:
Once you have registered for the Challenge, you can visit the Volunteer page and follow the directions for scheduling a shift, which will include creating a VolunteerHub account to view availability. If there aren’t any available shifts to fit your schedule, please reach out to Amy Rhodes.
Don’t miss the Challenge Kick Off Party!
All Women participating in the Challenge, as well as those interested, are invited to attend the Kick Off Party. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Challenge, ask questions, and discuss fundraising ideas. Child care will be available.
