The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia Receives Support from Live Nation Food and Fund Drive

Entertainment Company to Collect Food and Monetary Donations at Brad Paisley Concert

Norfolk, VA — June 1, 2022 — The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore today announced the organization as a beneficiary of the food and fund drive hosted by entertainment company Live Nation.  The drive will take place at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach on Saturday, June 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. – prior to the concert featuring country music superstar Brad Paisley.

“This support is especially timely and important against the backdrop of inflated food costs and a significant decline in donations,” says Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore & CEO Christopher Tan. “We appreciate Live Nation for this fun and unique opportunity to raise additional funds essential to putting foods on the tables of our most vulnerable neighbors.”

The concert will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will also include special guests Tracy Lawrence and Caylee Hammack. Attendees who donate food or funds will have an opportunity to win a ticket upgrade to Gold Circle and VIP Club passes. All donations will be converted into the total number of means provided (1 pound of food equals .83 meals; $1 equals 1.43 meals), and generous donor who donates the most meals will win the prize. To be eligible to win, donors must leave their cell phone number at the time of donation and will be contacted at 7:15 p.m. with information on how to claim their prize.

Last year, the Foodbank – a member of Feeding America and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks – provided 15.9 million meals to individuals and families struggling with hunger within its 4,745-square-mile service area. Working with community partners, the Foodbank is leading with effort to eliminate hunger in our region by addressing the root causes of food insecurity.

About the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore

For 40 years, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has provided over 350 million meals to those in our community who face hunger. Through our programs, facilities, and large network of community partners, we “eliminate hunger” on a daily basis for many. However, we understand that our current work addresses hunger for individuals in the short term. It does not address the root causes which force individuals to return to a food pantry again and again. This understanding has led to the creation of a refreshed strategic plan aimed to move Hampton Roads closer to achieving the mission of eliminating hunger for those we serve—not only for the day, or for the week, but for a lifetime.
